Using DADWAVERS for descriptive writing Tuesday 19thJanuary 2021
What can you see? What is happening? What might the character be saying? What atmosphere would you want to create in this scene?
There are many ways you can use DADWAVERS to write descriptively. DAD initially, you can just follow the pattern of descriptive, action, dialogue and repeat. Using Using DADWAVERS DADWAVERS DADWAV moving onto description, action, dialogue, where, adverb, verb. DADWAVERS follow the sequence in order before repeating for the next part of your writing. Final Stage use the Mnemonic in any order you choose.
The spheres were bobbing up and down in the water as the strange figure gently scooped them up and placed them behind him on his small boat. Every night, a mysterious lonesome figure drifted across the vast lake collecting the illuminating, glowing spheres floating in the calm, moonlit water. In the distance, the man could see the auroras dancing across the night sky. Only 2 more to collect, muttered the voice quietly to himself. Silently and carefully, he weaved his boat around the beautiful sight, mindful that he did not bump into them. Looking around at the ones nearest the boat, his keen eye darted round searching for the perfect one. Time was not on his side and he knew he must hurry before anyone else saw him or noticed he was missing. Would anyone ever discover the secrets of the orbs location? This place must remain a secret! he exclaimed to himself. As quiet as a mouse, he deftly turned his carriage around and headed back to the shores his prizes glowing which illuminated his path across the water.
