Board of Trustees The qualifications to serve on the Capital City Church of Christ are as stated in our Bylaws: The qualifications for Trustees are persons who are members who have been members for two continuous years in Capital City Church of Christ at the time of nomination and who have been members of either the Capital City Church of Christ or of a recognized sister Church for a total of seven continuous years. A nominee must have the reputation for exhibiting the qualities described in Galatians 5:22-23 and similar scriptures. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
Board of Trustees There are 3 Positions available for 3 year terms We have 4 Candidates: Stephen Bowen Brian Hayden Andy Hinton John P. (JP) Swope
Stephen Bowen Stephen has been married 36 years and has three children. He has been a Christian since April of 1982 and was converted at the University Church of Christ in Tallahassee, Florida. Currently, along with wife Deb, leads the Parent & Family ministry of Strength In Weakness Ministries. Stephen served in the full-time ministry (1989 1992). His current position as Associate Director at Florida State University Schools. He is a Certified leadership speaker, teacher and coach. He has a master s degree in Management Information Systems from FSU and a Bachelor s degree in Mathematics from FAMU. Stephen s Board experience includes: Florida Board of Nursing (4 years, Vice-Chairman 2 years) Leon County Primary Healthcare Advisory Board Community In Schools Northwest Regional Data Center Policy Board Leadership Tallahassee Board of Directors Miccosukee Youth Education Foundation
Brian Hayden Brian Hayden is married to Glenda and they have two children, Oliver (age 7) and Madelyn (age 5). Together, Brian and Glenda have led the Children's Ministry for the Capital City Church of Christ for several years. Brian has been a disciple for 15 years and a member of the Capital City Church of Christ for 6 years. As to work, Brian practices employment law with Rumberger Kirk & Caldwell, a regional law firm with several offices throughout Florida. Starting in 2015, Brian has been an active volunteer with Thunderdome Tallahassee, a group of lawyers who provide free legal services to low income families. Brian graduated law school from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Yale University. After college, Brian served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in Poland, teaching conversational English to high school students.
Andy Hinton Andy is married to Christina and they currently reside in Tallahassee, Florida and have a total of 9 children. His mother and father were missionary s and traveled around the world twice preaching the gospel and setting up churches. His father, W.C. Hinton, started 3 churches in Tallahassee and several churches around the world. Andy has been a member of a Church of Christ since his baptism at age 12. Andy placed membership with the Capital City Church of Christ in February 2013. In the late 80 s he was founder and President of The Florida Association of Quick Printers, Inc. - conducting inspirational seminars and meetings throughout the State of Florida. In the early 90 s he started as owner/operator in the printing industry with his successful printing companies - Paradise Printing Copy Centers, Inc. - Paradise Publishing and Wholesale Copy USA. He sold his companies in the late 90 s and the moved into the insurance industry. He also serves the Northern Panhandle of Florida with Senior Life/Final Expense Insurance - LTC - Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplements,- Family Insurance and Mortgage Protection.
John P.(JP) Swope John P. (JP) Swope has been working in education for the past ten years and is completing his fourth year as an administrator at Lawton Chiles High School. He has been on numerous committees and teams working to successfully launch Montford Middle School in 2008 and Leon County Virtual School in 2010. Prior to education, JP worked and served in the youth ministry for five years at Capital City Church of Christ. As an administrator, JP maintains the relationships of all of Chiles High School's K-8 feeder schools. He accomplished this by recruiting representatives from each site to form an Articulation Team that meets monthly. He is also responsible for the safety and security of the campus to include all staff and students. He works to make a positive impact by assembling the Choices Matter team that includes parents, school staff, students, youth pastors, and law enforcement to find a way to lessen the number of deaths, injuries, and emotional trauma caused by alcohol/drug abuse and suicide. His passion is to build a community around children and families with the driving force of guiding people to have a vision beyond their circumstances and surroundings while working to equip them with the tools they need to be successful. JP graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. degree in Social Science Education and from St. Leo University, where he earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. He has been married to Aimee for thirteen years and they have three children. He has been a disciple of Jesus Christ for eighteen years and a member of Capital City Church of Christ for eighteen years.

1200 W Tharpe St Update Building Inspections were performed on Monday, March 28th & Tuesday, March 29th Inspection report was received on Thursday afternoon, March 31st The Board and ministry staff met on Saturday morning, April 2nd to review the report and prepare for the Annual meeting The report revealed what we had expected (AC & Roof age) and a few other items that need further research. Further inspections are scheduled and we have requested an additional 30 days of due diligence through May 16th.
Financial Aspect We approached 4 lenders including our current banker, Wells Fargo Tallahassee State Bank has given us the best options Purchase Price = $1,450,000 Cash from us = 125,000 from our savings 1st Mortgage = 875,000 2nd Mortgage = 350,000 this will be paid off upon the sale of our building 3 Year Note = 150,000 interest free, no payments for 3 years
What does this mean monthly? Our Current Mortgage Payment = $ 3,098.07 Estimated New 1st Mortgage Payment = $ 4,863.53 Monthly payment difference = $ 1,765.46 2nd Mortgage Payment = $ 1,717.71 this is temporary and only necessary if our building doesn t sell prior to closing and it will be paid off upon the sale of our building Total Difference until sale of Bldg = $3,483.17
