What? Hydro-electricity is the most widely used form of renewable energy (16% of global electricity generation) Based on 2 things: 1. The difference in heigth 2. The flow of water

In Norway Hydro-electricity = 99% 200 power plants More than 800 small river plants
In Sykkylven 3 power plants 6 small river plants
In Sykkylven Power plant + Water plant = unique By going through the power plant, the water loses his very strong pressure. So it can go through a water plant too. (otherwise the pressure would be to high)
In Belgium Several small river plants in Walloon No big power plants because we don t have the difference in height
Pros Clean Renewable No CO2 pollution
Contras Impact on the local community Plants are destroyed in the area where it is built

Save energy? When we came to Norway we noticed that Norwegians don t switch off the lights as quickly as we do in Belgium. That s because energy is cheaper in Norway than in Belgium. So we can conclude that hydro-electricity is very important in Norway.
