  2. BIOGRAPHY He was a Spanish painter, sculptor,printmaker,ceramicist,stage designer, poet and playwright who spent most of his adult life in France. Picasso demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent in his early years, painting in a naturalistic manner through his childhood and adolescence Regarded as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. His career beginnings before 1900 s. Picasso's training under his father began before 1890. During 1893 the juvenile quality of his earliest work falls away, and by 1894 his career as a painter can be said to have begun. 2

  3. Personal Life Picasso had countless relationships with girlfriends, mistresses, muses and prostitutes during his lifetime, marrying only twice. He wed a ballerina named Olga Khokhlova in 1918, and they remained together for nine years. They had a son together, Paulo. 3

  5. CUBISM-THREE MUSICIANS Three Musicians is a large painting measuring more than 2 meters wide and high. It is painted in the style of Synthetic Cubism and gives the appearance of cut paper. On the left is a clarinet player, in the middle a guitar player, and on the right a singer holding sheets of music. 5

  6. REALISM-THE OLD GUITARIST The Old Guitarist The Old Guitarist was painted in 1903, just after the suicide death of Picasso's close friend. This work was created in Madrid. Its brown body represents the painting's only shift in color. Both physically and symbolically, the instrument fills the space around the solitary figure, who seems oblivious to his blindness and poverty as he plays. 6

  8. "Le Lapin Agile" or Harlequin with a Glass The painting depicts the owner of the cabaret Le Lapin Agile with guitar, who tried to kill her and committed a suicide because of her, and Picasso himself as a harlequin. 8
