Nomura Services (Global Finance, Mumbai) SAC PS II Talk
About the Station and department Global Finance includes multiple divisions: Product control, Treasury, Taxation, Auditing, MI etc. The MI (Management Information) team is responsible for : Collecting, analyzing and reporting key financial and operational data Providing insights and analysis to support decision-making and drive business growth Developing and maintaining management information systems and dashboards Ensuring data accuracy and integrity for the division Contributing to the development of Nomura's overall information management strategy.
What can you expect from this role? Finance Deep dive into some of the concepts that you ve learnt across courses related to the work you ll be doing. Data and Analytics you ll be working on huge data sets and have to constantly work on commentaries and reports
First few days at Nomura

Is a PS at Nomura right for you ? Involves good understanding of finance and some maths related to it, and a knack for crunching numbers On the FLIP Side: Extended working hours (>60 hours a week) hours ranging from (40-70 hours a week) They PAY WELL Sometimes you might have to work on the weekends as well. BIG Brand Value to boost your MBA/MS application. Involves a lot of repetitive work which can get boring with time Very High learning curve initially High Ownership for the work you do Lesser exit options and very less time to explore new stuff. Good exposure to global stakeholders, and regular interactions with some of the senior business heads Expect scrolling more spreadsheets per day than Instagram reels BITSIANs in the team as well
TIPS: CGPA considered: 7.44 Offshoot considered: 42/39 (based on FRAM/FinMan) Be active in all the events that take place and make sure you communicate well with your teammates (PPO ke chances badh jaenge / Escalation se bhi bacha lenge) Be ready to break a lot sweat while searching for accommodation during your early days. Make sure you inform your intentions for a PPO as soon as possible. If you are into trading in the share market then BEHOLD! You cant trade anymore . Make sure to either liquidate your shares beforehand if you need the cash else forget it for the rest of your internship tenure.
Dos & Don'ts for a PPO Be very particular with your work and avoid making many mistakes as even a 0.1 difference in numbers can cause alarms. Be very punctual about your time and don t postpone any of the work Make sure to create a good dependency in the team Maintain a good rapport with your manager and your offshore stakeholders Be very strict and obedient towards the company compliance policies. As even one compliance issue might ruin your chances for a PPO
