The Bloomberg Data for Health Initiative, in collaboration with various organizations, focuses on enhancing civil registration & vital statistics in low- and middle-income countries. The initiative aims to compare existing laws with international standards, identify gaps, propose solutions, and support governments in enacting legal improvements. The CRVS Legal Toolkit offers a comprehensive resource for legal professionals to analyze CRVS systems in alignment with 43 international standards. Key areas covered include civil registrar structure, data security, birth/death registrations, cause of death certification, and vital statistics production. Progress to date includes completed reviews in Ghana, Philippines, and Tanzania, with ongoing work in other countries. The toolkit is expanding to cover additional vital events and NID issues, with plans for an online launch.
