Regional Planning Teams faced challenges in delivering After School within a College (SWAC) and After Adult Dual Credits (ADC) due to COVID-19 restrictions in 2020-21. Participation in ADC and SWAC programs decreased, with financial reasons and uncertainty about college delivery approaches being cited as barriers. College Advisors noted a greater need for support and identified issues hindering students from applying for post-secondary education. Anecdotal responses and data from reports highlighted the impact of the pandemic on dual credit programs.

  1. After ADC and After SWAC Pilot 2020-21 SCHOOL-COLLEGE-WORK INITIATIVE PRELIMINARY RESULTS 1 SCWI/IJECT - DRAFT

  2. Observations Since the start of restrictions due to COVID-19 most Regional Planning Teams have been able to continue to deliver After School within a College (SWAC) and After Adult Dual Credits (ADC), in whole or part, to students participating in these two types of dual credit programs 2020-21 saw a significantly greater variety of delivery models for these dual credit programs and therefore to After SWAC and After ADC due to restrictions. Generally speaking, College Advisors who submitted reports, indicated a wider range of issues and barriers faced by these students and a greater need for the support provided through the Dual Credit program, specifically by the College Advisors College Advisors also acknowledged that more students were reluctant to apply for post-secondary education for next year. They cited financial reasons, and/or uncertainty regarding college delivery approaches for next year. This is evident in the reduced number of students who have applied during 2020-21. Anecdotal responses in addition to the data summarized on the following slides were captured. Highlights of the anecdotal responses can be found in College Advisor Sharing Session, March 15, 2021 and will be shared at the College Advisor Sharing Session, November 17, 2021 (pptx). 2 SCWI/IJECT - DRAFT

Not all SWAC programs delivered on campus resulting in some cases in reduced opportunity (particularly face-to-face) for College Advisors to work with SWAC students and teachers. 11. 917 OCAS Vouchers Issued to SWAC and ADC Students 774 OCAS vouchers were used in 2020-21 by current ADC and SWAC students 143 OCAS vouchers were used by former ADC and SWAC students this number is much lower than previous years. This may be a case of fewer students looking to pursue postsecondary education given the uncertainty of delivery models. It may also highlight the importance of face-to-face relationships which in the past have resulted in former students re-connecting with their college advisor when they decide to pursue college or university. As reported by RPTs in EDCS and through After supplementary reporting, March, July and August 2021 11 SCWI/IJECT - DRAFT
