  3. Careers and skills There are numerous skills which are important for future careers. When a skill is needed for different situations, such as communication, it is a transferrable skill; it can be transferred to different careers and circumstances. In pairs, discuss which 5 skills you believe are the most important for future careers.

  4. Discussion Some transferrable skills which Universities and employers look upon favourably are listed below. Discuss which skills you believe are the most important for success in school; justify and provide a rationale for your answers. Independence Creativity Communication Teamwork Leadership Analysis Time management Literacy Numeracy

  5. Instructions In small groups, you will be given a career profile. The profile explains the responsibilities, salary and typical working hours of a specific career. 1. Read the career profile and ensure everyone in the group has a good understanding of the career. Use the information you have read to rank how useful the transferrable skills previously discussed are for the career. Use the worksheet provided. 3. Provide a rationale for your choices. Swap career profiles with another group and repeat the process. 5. Complete the activity for 4 different career profiles. 2. 4.
