  1. Yellow Spotted Lizard Report

  2. The Yellow Spotted Lizard Do you believe in yellow spotted lizards? Well, if you don t you should do! This delicate creature packs a deadly venomous punch. If you have never seen one you are lucky. You re still alive. Being able to see the yellow spots is fatal- you are probably dead! Read on to find more out about the Yellow Spotted Lizard. PREDATORS! They have to keep their distance and protection from their only predator The Golden Sparrow Hawk! The Hawk is addicted to them and very rarely can catch one because the speed of the lizard is too great. On the rare occasion that the Yellow Spotted Lizard is in danger, they quickly confuse predators by displaying the dazzling, bright yellow spots. This acts as a disguise. Failing that, several short spits of venom in the direction of the predator is enough to scare most predators away. There is no known antidote or antivenin. APPEARANCE! The Yellow Spotted Lizard has eleven yellow spots that if you could see would mean you are probably already dead. They have red rims around their eyes, but their actual eyes are yellow. Their black teeth are like deadly poisoned fangs; one bite and you re a goner. Animal tongues are many colours, but never milky white like a Yellow Spotted Lizard s. That s how you can tell the difference. Also, it curls at the end and splits into two! The lizard is from six to ten inches long which is small but it helps them to hunt by hiding! The yellow spots help this little camouflage- especially when up against desert cacti! HABITAT! These reptiles are one of the only animals that live in the Texan desert. They are mainly found in Texas, but they can be also found in the rest of the country (USA). Yellow Spotted Lizards like to rest and sleep in VERY DEEP holes, only coming out during the summer, because they prefer the warmer weather. They will only come out at other times to either: look for food, attack or hunt. Up to twenty lizards can live in one hole together; the hole can get quite cramped and some will start to die out! Some varieties are nocturnal. reptile with
