  1. BTEC Sport Unit 2 Assignment 1 - Badminton Your Name

  2. 2A.P1 Badminton Court Insert a picture of the badminton court. Describe the lines and the height and width of the net. Explain the lines and areas which are in/out.

  3. 2A.P1 Badminton basic rules Explain how to play a basic game of badminton. Describe what equipment is required. Explain how to score a point and how to win the game (winning shots and faults).

  4. 2A.P1 Badminton Serving rules Explain the rules of the serve. Explain right/left and odds/evens, who serves the next point.

  5. 2A.P1 and M1 Badminton Other rules Double hit. Alternate sides when serving. 2 clear points until 30. Describe the difference between singles and doubles, including court size.

  6. 2A.P3 and M1 Badminton - Officials Describe and explain the roles of the umpire, line judge and referee. What do they wear? Where do they stand/sit? Pictures. What equipment do they need to do their job? What level of fitness do they require?

  7. 2A.P3 Badminton Officials- Hand Signals What hand signals do badminton officials use? Find pictures of at least four and explain them.

The player serving is standing in the right service box and serves into the opponents left service box. The player serves and the shuttle hits the net, but lands into the correct service box .

  10. 2A. P2 Umpiring Self Reflection Explain four rules you applied to the game you were umpiring. Describe at least one strength and at least one weakness of your performance as an umpire.

  11. 2A.D1 Changing the Rules Select any two rule changes you would make to badminton and explain why you would make these changes. This must be very detailed and your changes must be justified!
