Also, Jeff Dawson (Past Chair) and Mimi Kim (Chair) will be involved in nominations for ASA leadership positions, so if you have suggestions for ASA- national level positions, please let us know. 7

Summary from ASA Leadership ASA leadership operates in accordance with the ASA strategic plan. Presidents base their initiatives on the strategic plan, and on previous initiatives. The strategic plan is undergoing a systematic review, which is about halfway complete. With this plan in mind, ASA President Dionne Price has focused on promoting the practice and profession of statistics through three initiatives: Promoting the Profession, through StatsForward, a professional leadership development program for early-career statisticians and data scientists.. Promoting the Practice, through improving means for communicating the value our community brings to scientific discoveries and decisions, and through sharing the exciting opportunities within the ASA for collaboration, leadership, and career development. Promoting the Practice and Profession of Statistics, through enhancing the pipeline into the profession by making the transition from two-year to four-year programs in statistics and data science as seamless as possible. 9

President-Elect Bonnie Ghosh-Dastidar presidential initiative ideas: Communicating with our audiences Rebuilding Community and Connections Collaboration continuing Idea Forum Opportunity undergrad and early career grad student mentoring As of January 1, 2024: Ji-Hyun Lee (University of Florida) will be the ASA President- Elect and Susan Paddock (NORC, University of Chicago) will be our new VP. Candidates for the Spring 2024 election (to assume office in 2025): President Elect Denise Lievesley and Jeri Mulrow; VP DuBois Bowman and Nandita Mitra. 10
Report from the ASA Board of Directors BOD Report Submitted by: Alex Hanlon, Kendra Schmid, and Melinda Holt 2023 Board meetings were held in late April, June (budget), and in August at JSM. April Meeting Update on DataFest Met with Committee on National Statistics Representatives from College Board discussing potential revisions to the AP statistics course LinkedIn Live C.R. Rao was awarded the 2023 International Prize in Statistics at the World Statistics Congress in Ottawa last month. Nominations for the 2025 International Prize will open early next year. 11

Report from the ASA Board of Directors At the June BOD Budget meeting, we reviewed finances and discussed budget proposals for approval at the August JSM BOD meeting We welcomed Derek Curtis as our new Director of Finance and Administration At JSM, the Board heard reports from our three financial committees: investment, budget, and audit Overall budget is in good standing, despite last few years of operating deficit The Board approved a modest increase in dues and JSM registration fees The audit of FY2022 was accepted by the Board ASA Giving Day November 17, encourage your chapter to participate in the ASA Chapter Challenge Ron and Amanda are going on chapter visits, you can have them come visit your chapter and organize an event. 13

ASA Chapter Stimulus Funding Program Purpose: Increase chapter enthusiasm; stimulate growth Chapters that have submitted Annual Report by the pre- specified deadline (Jan. 31) can apply for up to $1000 per year to support Chapter Activities. Prior to each activity, complete Chapter Stimulus Funding Application Form (accessed via ASA Leadership Hub website) Activities supported should have broad impact on chapter (e.g., social events, science fairs, speakers, etc ) 29
