Behavioral Health Updates Division of Contracts and Quality Management BH Core measure reporting to CMS PBIP measure benchmarks Quality program overhaul-survey results
Behavioral Health Updates (continued) Bureau of Children s Coordinated Health Policy and Supports PIHP/CMHSP reporting - completed ICSS this month, wrapping up CAFAS/PECFAS, and DHHS Incentive Payment (DHIP) upcoming (due end of April 2024). Feedback Request flyer - requesting participation from youth and parents/caregivers of youth with lived behavioral health experience. Beginning outreach weekly as responses are received. MichiCANS - soft launch began January 8.

Developmental Disabilities Practice Improvement Team Overview of recent activity: A subcommittee was formed to develop a formal proposal for MDHHS to include individuals (youth, adult) with lived experiences (direct, secondary) to advise MDHHS on policies, quality, and program implementation. This proposal will include payment for participation, resources to support active participation, etc. Children s Services provided an update on the MichiCANS implementation including the January 2024 soft launch . This phase will inform the long-term implementation of MichiCANS on 10/1/24. How this work improves the lives of people served (quality): Jackie Sproat will provide an overview of changes the MDHHS s Behavioral Health Quality Strategies at the February meeting. Impacts on PIHPs and CMHSPs operations: DDPIT is requesting the opportunity to review the 1915c waiver proposals prior to MDHHS submission to CMS. MDHHS continues meeting with Milliman related to proposed language changes. The submission timeline may not allow for a full review prior to the public comment period, yet MDHHS may be able to provide a summary. Next steps: Upcoming meetings: 2/14/24, 3/13/24
National Core Indicators Overview of recent activity: This year s survey process is underway. Interviewers are beginning to schedule and conduct surveys. A few CMHSPs still need to submit their pre-survey and background information packets. Many thanks to the CMHSP NCI Liaisons for their timely response (>1,000) of NCI pre-survey materials. Reminder, MI-DDI will facilitate a weekly $25 gift card raffle (one winner per week) of NCI survey respondents. How this work improves the lives of people served (quality): The NCI Advisory Council met on 1/25 to draft future performance measures, intervention strategies, and measurements for Person-Centered Planning, Self- Determination, and Guardianship using NCI data. The discussion will continue at the next Advisory Council meeting. Impacts on PIHPs and CMHSPs operations: MI-DDI will send CMHSPs a brief questionnaire about the pre- survey process (pre-survey and background information packets, respondent consents). This information will prepare and support CMHSP NCI Liaisons. Next steps: NCI Advisory Council meetings are scheduled for 4/25, 7/25, 10/24 Conduct NCI surveys (Timeline: January-May 2024)
