KEY SKILL SINGLE WORD ANALYSIS Content Confidence Wealth Secure Rich Happy Charles Dickens introduces us to Fezziwig by describing his voice as comfortable, oily, rich, fat and jovial. The adjective rich implies there is a wealth to his voice showing he is confident and content with life and Christmas, qualities Scrooge lacks. Fezziwig is Scrooge s foil character here. He is jovial and secure with what he has and does not fear poverty like his former apprentice; he is happy with what he has and strives to bring happiness and joy to others at Christmas.
