  3. The film is from BBC Teach: My Life My Religion Getting ready It is called Easter . In it, find out about this important Christian festival and see how it is celebrated by some Christians today. Pupils: you will need a pen or pencil and some paper to record your answers.   4. TASKS for learning Through this work you will learn about Christian celebrations of Easter and why Easter is such an important time for Christians.

  5. Task 1: What is Easter? After watching the clip, copy and complete the following sentences: Easter is . Easter is important to Christians because . On Good Friday, Christians remember . On Easter Sunday, Christians remember .

  6. Task 2: How do Christians remember the events of Good Friday? Describe three things that Christians in the clip were doing to remember Good Friday. 1. 2. 3. Research and reflection or other title Use the Internet or books to find out more about these symbols that are used on Good Friday. Present your findings as a one-page fact file.   7. Task 3: Via Dolorosa In the clip, Lara told us that the Via Dolorosa is particularly busy at Easter. Write a few sentences to explain why so many Christians visit at Easter and what they do there. Reflect Re-enacting the events of Good Friday is important to lots of Christians all over the world. Can you give any examples of re-enacting other types of events? Do you think that re-enacting important events is a good idea? Give two reasons or more for your answer.

  8. Task 5: Reflection Discuss the following points. After your discussions, jot down some of your thoughts. A festival of mixed emotions Why do you think Nathan described Easter as a festival of mixed emotions ? Extend your learning In the clip, we learnt that Easter is the start of Christianity. Explain why this is the case.

Explain what Christians mean by Resurrection. 1) Explain why an egg is an important symbol used on Easter Sunday 2) Explain why some Anglican Christians use fire as a symbol on Easter Sunday 3) Extend your learning Matthew 28:1-11 Mark 16:1-8 Luke 24:1-12 John 20:1-18 The Resurrection is written about four times in the Bible. Read through the different versions. What do all of them have in common? What differences are there? Why do you think they might be different?
