Explore the importance of heeding the teachings of Jesus in building a strong foundation for life, drawing insights from Luke 6:46-49 and Matthew 7:21-28. The analogy of building on rock versus sand serves as a powerful reminder to align our actions with faith. Through thoughtful reflection on these scriptures, Evangel Christian Fellowship encourages its community to prioritize putting beliefs into practice for a steadfast spiritual journey.

  3. Luke 6:46-49 46 But why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and not do the things which I say? 47Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. Evangel Christian Fellowship

  4. 49But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great. Evangel Christian Fellowship

  5. Matthew 7:21-28 21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? 23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness! Evangel Christian Fellowship

  6. 24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. Evangel Christian Fellowship

  7. 28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Evangel Christian Fellowship

  9. 1 Corinthians 3:1-17 1And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4For when one says, I am of Paul, and another, I am of Apollos, are you not carnal? Evangel Christian Fellowship

  10. 5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 11. 9For we are Gods fellow workers; you are God s field, you are God s building. 10According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, Evangel Christian Fellowship

  12. 13each ones work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one s work, of what sort it is. temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 14If anyone s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15If anyone s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 16Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?17If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. 13. 1. Take Heed What You Build Matthew 6:19-20 19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 14. Luke 14:28-30 28For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it 29lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish ? 15. 2. Take Heed Where You Build 1 Corinthians 3:11 11For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:19-22 19Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,20having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,21in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,22in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. 18. Ezekiel 33:31-32 31So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain. 32Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them.
