  3. Dimensions of Well-being The programs and resources that we create and provide at Virginia Tech are based on the framework of six Dimensions of Well-being. This really expands the scope of well-being beyond just physical wellbeing and instead encompasses a holistic approach to wellness. This way, we can make sure we are addressing ALL parts of a person s well-being. All of these different dimensions are equally as important to a person s overall state of well-being.

  4. Dimensions of Well-being Physical well-being: Includes exercise and movement, nutrition, alcohol and other drugs education, chronic disease management, etc. Social well-being: This dimension focuses on having strong relationships and support systems in your life. Emotional well-being: This dimension focuses on awareness and acceptance of one s feelings. It really looks at an individual s capacity to manage feelings and behaviors effectively and cope with stress well. Financial well-being: This dimension focuses on effectively managing one s economic life. Community well-being: This focuses on the sense of engagement one has with the area in which they live and how connected they are to their community. Purpose: Purpose focuses on enriching one s life as well as the lives of others by sharing one s unique talents, gifts, and skills to live out one s purpose.
