  1. Monday 26th April LO: To write a letter to Nolwandle s mother, Sky Success Criteria: I know the features of a personal letter. I can use adjectives in my writing. I can edit my work and write a final copy for display

  2. We will reread the story of Nolwandle, Girl of the Waves. Pay attention to the section where the sea sweeps Nolwandle away. Namibia

  3. Lets see what we can do to make these sentences more interesting with adjectives 1. The _____________, _______________ waves swept along the beach. 2. _________________, _________________ Nolwandle with twinkling eyes was carried further away from the shore. 3. The ______________, ______________ water seemed to carry Nolwandle to a new home.

  4. Think about what is included in a personal letter. Our letter today will be slightly magical. The sea will write a letter to Nowandle smother, Sky. Let s take a look at an example of what you need in a personal letter.

  5. Here is an example I wrote. Notice that the language is not formal because it is a personal letter. You can again magpie some of the ideas here, but try to make it your own. Think as if you were the sea that doesn t want Sky to worry. You will write your final copy on this message in a bottle paper.

  9. Today we are going to be listening one of the most famous and popular of characters from story lore in Africa. Anansi, the Spider Man (not to be confused with the Amazing Spiderman!) You will need to listen carefully to the story and write the events down, and then make a storyboard of what you have read. You will be using this to retell the story. Let s take a look at a storyteller that is telling the story in a way to keep listeners engaged.

  13. Friday 30th April LO: To write a script Success Criteria: I can write in a script format I can give stage directions

  14. Our next steps are to write a script of the story of Anansi the Spider Man What is a script? How do the actors know what to say? What are stage directions?

  15. Before we start, lets review how speech is used in stories with inverted commas. Write and punctuate these sentences in your book. Put those in the basket, please, replied Mrs Jones. Todd shouted loudly, Look out for the boat! Don t forget your jacket, mum reminded me. Darius reminded them, The show starts in an hour.

  16. Anansi the Spider Man (Anansi has been called before the king. He enters the room and bows.) King: Anansi, I have a task that I need you to complete. I need you to bring me to items within the week. Anansi: My King, I am happy to oblige! What are the two items that I shall be seeking? King: Ahhh, this is what will make the task a true challenge for you, Anansi. I will not tell you what the items are. You must find this out for yourself. Anansi: Yes, your excellency. It will be a challenge! King : And Anansi, if you don t have this completed by the end of the week, I will have you executed. (Anansi has a look of concern on his face)

  17. You can use the story to help you write the parts of each character. Anytime that you see inverted commas, this will be part of the script.
