Virtual Learning Community Grade Level Meetings for July 23, 2020 focus on the necessary technology requirements, synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities, attendance guidelines, grading, and feedback details.   3. Technology All students will need a device with internet access. Windows or Mac based devices are recommended according to the Florida Virtual School website. Synchronous & Asynchronous Synchronous Learning Opportunities Occur when you are on your computer in a class session with your teacher and peers There will be regularly scheduled synchronous learning opportunities for all students in all core subject areas, special areas, and Tiger Time. These schedules will be aligned within grade levels. Asynchronous Learning Occurs when you are on your computer working without your teacher and peers. There will be weekly asynchronous lessons in Schoology for all students to complete. These lessons will be aligned within grade levels and can be accessed at any time.

  5. Attendance / Schoology Beginning August 4th, students must log in to Schoology every day from Monday-Friday. If you do not login at least once per day you will be marked absent. Schoology is the platform where students will access asynchronous lessons and supplemental class materials. We will provide login information and will help to make sure you are able to access this platform.

  6. Grading and Feedback As students work through asynchronous lessons there will be activities and assignments to complete. Synchronous class opportunities will be aligned to the asynchronous lessons, with teachers providing supplemental material and support for students. Synchronous opportunities will also be recorded for students to access if they are unable to attend the live session or if they wish to review the material. Students will receive regular feedback on their submitted work and completed assignments. Teachers will also have open office hours 3 times a week to make themselves available to provide individualized student support.

  13. Lunch During Virtual School Breakfast and lunch will be available to students on every school day. There will be a grab and go option for families at the school. The district will also deliver some meals to bus stops for those without transportation. The cost for lunch is $3.   15. Class Assignments In an effort to provide more time for planning and connections between families prior to the school year, we are releasing classroom assignments on Friday, July 24th. Class assignments will be posted at 12PM in the membership toolkit app. Please download the app and complete registration in order to access this information. Please note that class assignments are subject to change based on changes in enrollment.

Logging into schoology and getting familiar with the platform. (August 6th is a teacher work-day No School) August 10-14 Synchronous Learning Schedules begin. Students login to Schoology and attend synchronous classes each day. Synchronous opportunities during this week will prioritize community building and social and emotional learning. August 17-21 Continued focus on community building and social and emotional learning. MAP Testing window begins. August 24-28 Synchronous opportunities focus on content with social and emotional learning embedded.
