BiblicalObjections To Baptism There are many reasons people reject the Bible s teaching and command to be baptized, Some present secular reasons, some traditional, some scholarly, some theological, and even others Biblical (Grace/Works, Thief on the Cross etc) Yet, we find the Bible does record objections to the command of baptism within it s pages By Biblical objections, I am not referring to valid objections to baptism presented by the Bible but more so examples of others rejecting the command of baptism as recorded in the Bible
Biblical Objections To Baptism John The Baptism of Jesus His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire. Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me? But Jesus answered him, Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he consented. (Matthew 3:12 15 ESV) He rejected baptizing Jesus because of his perceived unworthiness. It seems that people use this occasion to show baptism unworthiness of them
Biblical Objections To Baptism John s Baptism In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. And the same John had his raiment of camel s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan (Matthew 3:1 5 KJV) And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and we're all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. All Judea. Many people from Judea. It does not mean that literally all the people went, but that great multitudes went. It was general. Jerusalem was in the part of the country called Judea. Judea was situated on the west side of the Jordan Albert Barnes

And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. (John 8:31 32 KJV) Those who are not capable (permanently or conditionally) And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them. But Jesus called for them, saying, Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all. (Luke 18:15 17 NAS95)
