  4. School School Hours Hours Arrival times The school doors open at 7:30 AM. Breakfast is available to students from 7:30 AM to 7:50 AM. The first bell rings at 7:55 AM.   5. School Dress Code The Everglades Elementary Dress Code is detailed below. Items may be purchased through any store or catalog provided they meet the following specifications. TOPS Students may wear blue, hunter green or white polo-style shirts. They may be short-sleeved or long-sleeved and the color of the collar must match the body of the shirt. Blue, hunter green or white turtlenecks may be worn during cool weather. BOTTOMS Students may wear twill (cotton/cotton blend) or corduroy shorts, pants, skirts, capri pants, skorts, culottes, jumpers, short-alls, or overalls in solid navy blue or khaki. Important concepts can be learned by doing meaningful hands-on activities. There are times when seatwork and explicit/systematic instruction (for example: learning new letter-sounds and word work techniques) are required and necessary.   11. Dual Dual Language Language Program The BCPS Dual Language Program offers a school-within-school approach to second language acquisition education. The goal of the program is to provide students with the opportunity to become fully bilingual by learning, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English and the target language. Program:: Our program begins in kindergarten and currently runs through fourth grade. Students who participate in the program will continue at the next grade level the following year. Students must meet a specific criteria to be admitted into the program. If you would like to make an appointment to have your child take the assessment required for qualification, please click on the Dual Language link on our school s website.   13. Snack Snack Procedures Procedures Due to allergies, we ask that each student bring in their own snack. Each class will have a designated snack time. If you choose to send a snack, please send something in small quantity that can be eaten quickly and quietly. Examples: pretzels, crackers, golden grahams, cut-up fruit, goldfish, animal crackers, yogurt, cheeze-its, applesauce, jello/pudding, string cheese, granola bars, 100% fruit juice, etc. SLIDESMANIA.COM SLIDESMANIA.COM

  16. Medication Medication Students will not be allowed to receive medication unless there is a school board medical clearance form on file in the office. This form must be completed and signed by a physician for any medication the student may need, including over the counter medications. Students are not allowed to have medications in class, and teachers are not allowed to administer medications of any kind. Please inform your child s teacher if your child has any food allergies or other health concerns. SLIDESMANIA.COM

  17. Aftercare Aftercare The Everglades Elementary aftercare program is open every school day from 2:00PM-6:00PM and we also provide childcare on early release days from 12:00PM-6:00PM. As of now, payments are made through the Online E-Store portal and you will be notified before each payment is due. A $30 registration fee is required per child when registering for our aftercare program. Scholarships may be available for families who are currently enrolled in the program, but student(s) must be approved for free or reduced meals in order to qualify. Scholarships are based on need and are limited. If you would like your child to attend our program, please contact our program supervisor for further information.
