  1. Course Selection for Grade 9 Pre IB (students going into grade 10 Pre IB)

  2. Full Diploma

  3. Grade 9 Pre IB: What to select for Grade 10 ENG2DW (English, compulsory) FSF2DW if you want IB French in Grade 11 and 12; If you want IB Spanish, do not select a language CHC2DW (History, compulsory) CHV2OH/GLC2OH (Civics/Careers, compulsory) SNC2DW (Science, compulsory) MDM2DW (Math, compulsory) 2 or 3 electives

  4. BUT I want a third Science! For FULL DIPLOMA IB, you can only take 2 sciences. The most popular combinations are: HL BIO and SL CHEM (medical/health sciences) OR HL CHEM and SL PHYSICS (engineering) If you want THREE sciences, you must take one Ontario Science in Grade 10 therefore you should be selecting your third ONTARIO science right now. (SBI3UI, SCH3UI or SPH3UI)

  5. You need to PLAN AHEAD Do you want three sciences? What university programs do you want to apply to? Research what the required courses are for the programs you want to apply to. eINFO www.electronicinfo.ca Do you have all your required courses before Grade 11? CHECK!

Guidelines for IB: Full Diploma Full Diploma Students Must: Choose 3 HL courses Choose 3 SL courses You must have one subject from each GROUP Choose Theory of Knowledge in Grade 11 Complete Extended Essay and CAS requirement over Grade 11 and 12 You may not take more than 2 IB sciences A third Ontario Science can be taken in Grade 10, at summer/night school or on-line *Please note that night school has been cancelled for the past few semesters. We can not guarantee it will run.

  7. How do I decide? We can not TELL you whether to do Full Diploma or Partial Courses You must research requirements of University Programs you wish to pursue Come to Course Selection Info Night on Wednesday Feb 13thto hear presentations from the different subject areas Ultimately, you must thoughtfully decide which route you wish to pursue

IB Pathways for University University Pathway HL SL English Spanish OR French Math Applications Music OR Art OR Bus Mgmt Spanish OR French Math Ana OR Math App Music OR Art OR Bus Mgmt Spanish OR French Math Analysis Chemistry Spanish or French Math Analysis Physics Spanish or French Math Analysis Physics OR Art Arts and Humanities History OR Psychology Biology English History OR Psychology Biology English History OR Psychology Biology English History OR Psychology Chemistry English History OR Psychology Biology *All FD students must complete Theory of Knowledge, EE and CAS Business Medical/Health Sciences Engineering and Math Architecture

  9. Fees Grade 10 Pre IB Fees are due in May (You pay in grade 9 for Grade 10) $200 -you will be able to pay on School Day

  10. Grade 9 and 10 Pre IB Course Selection Info Night Wednesday February 13 7 pm Cafeteria Students and Parents are invited to attend Presentations by: Art, Business, History/Psych, Music, Science
