  3. Information Classification: PUBLIC Labour Market The term labour market is used to describe the place where employers hire people to work for them. In the last twenty years the labour market has been changing rapidly due to technological developments. Task 1 Open Word and copy and complete the table on the next slide.

  4. Information Classification: PUBLIC TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT JOBS CREATED MOBILE PHONE Designing Manufacturing (making) Marketing and Advertising SOCIAL MEDIA e.g. Facebook, Instagram

  5. Information Classification: PUBLIC JOB SECTORS Jobs can be put into groups or sectors. Some examples are: Farming, Forestry and Fishing Health and Social Creative and Digital Construction Retail Hospitality and Tourism Low Carbon Engineering Law or Finance High Tech Young people, such as you, are predicted to have TEN TO FIFTEEN DIFFERENT JOBS in their working lives. This is likely to involve working in a number of different jobs in one sector and will almost certainly involve moving between sectors.

  6. Information Classification: PUBLIC Task 2 Research TRANSFERABLE SKILLS (look at least three different websites) and produce a Powerpoint presentation or a series of posters to cover the following: What are Transferable Skills ? Eight examples of Transferable Skills that you think are the most important. Explain why each one is important for people in jobs regardless of what that job is.

  7. Information Classification: PUBLIC Task 3 yours and give examples of how you have developed those skills. For example, you may believe you have developed your Ability to Work in a Team when playing for a sports team. Identify the Transferable Skills that you think are strengths of Identify the Transferable Skills that you think you need to focus on developing and explain how you are going to do this for each one.

  8. Information Classification: PUBLIC Extension Task(s) choose one or both Write a short report (2 or 3 paragraphs) explaining how Transferable Skills are important to you now and how they will be important to you in the future Write a short report explaining why Transferable Skills are more important to young people in 2020 than they would have been to young people twenty years ago.
