An acrostic poem uses the letters in a topic word to begin each line of the poem All the lines of the poem must be about the topic word which runs down the side hines brightly S U N p in the sky ice and warm on my skin This poem about the sun uses the letters in the word SUN to begin each line

  3. Acrostic poems can be written using just one word on each line or by using phrases and whole sentences.
