A Honest Wood Cutter There was a man in a village. He used to lead his life by cutting wood in a forest.
A Honest Wood Cutter One day he was cutting wood near a river. When he was cutting wood, suddenly his axe fell into the river.
A Honest Wood Cutter The river was so deep. The woodcutter did not know how to swim or dive. So, he was sitting sadly .
A Honest Wood Cutter Then a wonderful thing happened. A beautiful Mercury appeared before the woodcutter. She asked him in a sweet voice, Why are you so sad, and cutting no wood?
A Honest Wood Cutter The woodcutter replied , My axe has fallen into the river, so I can t cut wood now. I ve no food in my house and my child is in hunger. Then the Mercury showed him a golden axe and asked if it was his axe?
A Honest Wood Cutter The woodcutter saw the axe and said, It s not my axe . Then the Mercury showed him another axe made of silver and asked, Is this the axe that you lost?
A Honest Wood Cutter The woodcutter said, No, it s not mine. My axe is made of iron. Then the Mercury showed him the lost axe.
A Honest Wood Cutter Then the woodcutter said happily that it was his axe.
A Honest Wood Cutter The Mercury became very pleased. And gave him the gold silver and iron axe. Then the woodcutter became rich and began to live happily.
