Circumcision was a covenant mark that they belonged to God Circumcision demonstrated dependence on God not flesh a removal of fleshly ways of thinking Circumcision handicapped their strength so they would not forget their source of victory
ADORATION Joshua 5:1 Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the coast heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted in fear and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites Let s worship our God the great King who goes before us in 2024! He is stronger than any enemy we will face. He is the One who protects us and causes us to be unshakeable. Declare that this year, you will trust Him alone!
CONFESSION Josh.5:5-6 All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness during the journey from Egypt had not. The Israelites had moved about in the wilderness forty years until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the Lord. .. 1. Confess that we have trusted in our own strength and resources to save us. Ask for forgiveness and choose to repent 2. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit and give you the grace to trust Him in 2024
THANKSGIVING Josh.5:2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites again. 1. Thank God for His provision in 2023. It was not your strength that achieved this! Ease & acceleration, spiritual fitness, family impact 2. Thank God that the battle is not yours but His! 3. Thank God for the divine handicap the opportunity to slow down and begin the year in fasting, prayer and sacrificial giving
2024 WORD: UNSHAKEABLE! 1Cor.15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (say it together! Speak these blessings over yourself & your family today) 1. RESILIENT FAITH that through training, we will develop a faith that can withstand any challenge (stand firm; let nothing move you!) 2. KINGDOM BUSINESS that everything we do will be driven by God s agenda (give yourself fully to the work of the Lord) 3. HIDDEN TREASURES that as we surrender to God, we will experience divine provision from unlikely sources (your labor in the Lord is not in vain).
SUPPLICATION Prayer for yourself & your DG group as you start the year with the divine handicap. That God will give you the strength to fast the full 21 days and to do so joyfully That you will be faithful to read the word every day of 2024 and that God will give you divine insights and instructions for each day That you will have the boldness to give your firstfruits in January and to pay your tithe every month of 2024
