  5. SUBJECT SELECTION PROCESS AND COURSE AVAILABILITY

  6. Core subjects: English Mathematics Science Geography History PD/H/PE

  7. Elective subjects: You will be studying 3 elective subjects

  8. Elective subjects: ENGLISH: Drama HSIE: Commerce Elective Geography Elective History PDHPE: Child Studies Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS)

  9. Elective subjects: TAS: Information and Software Technology Industrial Technology Timber Design and Technology Food Technology

  10. Elective subjects: FACULTY OF THE ARTS: Japanese Music Photography and Digital Media Visual Arts

  11. Please be aware: Some electives involve a FEE to cover the cost of materials.

  12. The Subject Selection Process Students are to select five (5) subjects and place them in order of preference. Depending upon individual student choices, the school will then create a Year 9 curriculum structure that suits the greatest number of students.

  13. The Subject Selection Process Students will be placed into three subjects as a result of this process, based on their preferences. Please be aware: Classes will be formed for elective subjects based on student choice and numbers

  16. The Subject Selection Process Choose subjects based on what you like and are interested in. Don t choose subjects based on: Teachers Friends

  17. HSC Minimum Standard Students will be required to reach a minimum literacy and numeracy standard before they are eligible for the award of the Higher School Certificate (HSC)

  18. Students will show they meet the HSC minimum standard by passing online tests of basic reading, writing and numeracy skills. Students will have multiple opportunities to sit each test, from Year 10 until a few years after Year 12.

  19. Frequently Asked Questions What happens if my child doesn t meet the minimum standards? Can my child still go to university without a HSC? What about TAFE? Is there a cost to resit the tests? How will the retest be conducted?
