The Region IV Public Health Training Center (PHTC) is dedicated to strengthening the competence of the public health workforce in HHS Region IV. It provides professional development opportunities for both current and future public health professionals through training programs, field placements, and advocacy for public health policies. The mission of Region IV PHTC is to develop a learning community, expose students to underserved areas, advocate for public health systems, and contribute to the national Public Health Training Center program. The network includes the Central Office and Local Performance Sites in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.

Overview of the National PHTC Program Funded in 2014 through a cooperative agreement from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) REGIONS 10 Regional Public Health Training Centers (1 in each HHS Region) National Coordinating Center for Public Health Training Purpose of PHTC Program: Improve the nation s public health system by strengthening the knowledge and skills of the current and future public health workforce. 5
