  4. CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, is about a kid named Charlie, who is very poor. He lives with his grandma, grandpa, aunt, mom, dad, and his uncle but his dad is the only one with a job. Charlie s poor family lived in an old, almost going to collapse, house in the city. Charlie, his mom and his dad were the only ones who were not old like the others. During each meal, all they had was measly cabbage soup. The only good thing that the Charlie s family can afford on Charlie s birthday is a chocolate bar. On the week of Charlie s birthday a flier came out that saying that five golden tickets are in each candy bar, but they are hidden among thousands of chocolate bars. Only 5 children will be able find the golden ticket and get a tour of Willy Wonka s Chocolate factory. Only one kid at the end will get a special prize! Some people think that a boy like Charlie does not have a chance! The book starts out with Charlie s birthday and his parents coming through the slanted door and giving him a chocolate bar.
