  2. We are very excited that you have shown interest in the Heights HS Band. We hope to be able to answer any questions you may have and give some insight into all the programs that make up the Band Program. Welcome! Let's get started with an Introduction of our Directors

  4. The Heights HS Band program is known as one of the best Band programs in HISD and the state of Texas. We have Marching Band, 3 concert band ensembles (wind ensemble, symphonic band and concert band) Percussion Ensemble, 2 Jazz Bands (Jazz1, Jazz 2). Colorguard/WinterGuard program. In addition the music departments offers choir, piano and mariachi Facts! The unique thing about the Heights HS band program is that you don t need prior experience to join! We will teach you everything you need to know! Our Directors will speak on these programs a little more, if you have any questions please use the chat box so we can answer them.

  6. Jazz Band is a co-curricular class and is designed to develop the techniques in all jazz styles and ensemble playing. Over the course of this class, students will develop technical facilities, intonation, articulation, tone, balance, blend and musical interpretation through the performance of a variety of Jazz literature. This class is a full year course and intended for the student who has extensive playing experience and interested in learning the fundamentals of jazz music. Jazz Band The involvement of musicians in all types of public performance is required, for it is an outgrowth, demonstrating the working knowledge of the musical concepts acquired in this class. Space will be limited to the standard jazz ensemble instrumentation, and players will be required to participate in the regular band program (marching and concert bands)

  8. The Heights has 3 concert bands which students audition for at the end of marching season and compete in U.I.L events within the region. Students also compete in various competitions like All Region, All City, Solo & Ensemble The Wind Ensemble is the top performing group directed by Mr. Walters Concert Bands The Symphonic Band is the second group directed by Mr. Whorton The Concert Band is the third group directed by Mr. Becker

  9. And now the Big One! Marching Band!

  10. The Most Visible Program at any school is the Marching Band and it's no different here at Heights. Our band consists of about 160 members. We travel to every football games and compete in various competitions throughout the season. We utilize summer band as a means to introduce marching fundamentals Marching Bulldog Band The rehearsal times for during the school days are: Mondays- Percussion and Colorguard 4:15pm-5:30pm Tuesdays- Wind players only 4:15pm-5:30pm Wed-Thur- Full band 4:15pm-5:30pm Friday- Football games Check out our social media for a Preview of our 2020 Marching show

  11. We Have a tentavive date for July Marching Band Camp which will be July 13th- July 17th at Heights HS from 8am-12pm & 1pm-4pm. Due to Convid-19 this may change we will keeep everyone updated. Full band camp will start on August 3rd No Expereince is needed!!!
