This document discusses the band edge requirements for NB-IoT devices, specifically focusing on FCC specifications. It addresses the complexities of band edge regulations, proposes further analysis and simulations, and suggests options for network signaling release. The references provide insight into guard band operations and band edge considerations in relation to FCC regulations.

  1. 3GPP TSG-RAN WG4 Meeting #94-bis-e 20th to 24th Apr. 2020 R4-2005219 WF on NB WF on NB- -IoT band edge IoT band edge performance against FCC performance against FCC regulation regulation MediaTek, [xxxx]

  2. Background For NB1/NB2 devices in stand-alone operation [and guard band operation], there is band edge requirement per FCC specification#90.691 which has been discussed for band 26[2][3]. However the upper frequency edge requirement is also subjected to #22.917. Further, for some other bands, there are also FCC specifications [4][5][6] were not specified in 36.101.

  3. Proposed Way Forward More simulation/measurement results from companies are needed. Further analysis shall include scenarios below: Standalone mode [Guard-band operation] Backward compatibility issue shall be further discussed Options on which release shall the new network signaling be applied Option1: Rel-13 Option2: Rel-14 Option3: Rel-15 Option4: Rel-16 Companies are encouraged to provide analysis results and views
