  2. The graph shows frozen bone in cuts (Froz Bin) are more acceptable in the market. Price is the main determinate of demand. We believe records of fresh meat are a mistake and likely Frozen.

It appears as in Boneless is now cheaper.

  4. Frozen bone-in cuts are the largest import.

  5. The value of all imports continues to rise.

  6. The average price per kilo has also risen.

  7. The volume of sheep meat has gone down in recent years as the price per kilo has gone up.

  8. New Zealand is by far the largest supplier of sheep meat.

  13. Fiji sheep and goat production has remained relatively stable. Government interventions and subsidies seem to have an impact with sheep.

  14. Carcass weights have remained relatively constant and are very small by international standards. This is a cost to the butcher.

  15. Fish plays and important part in local meat consumption. Compared with similar figures from 2012, poultry and pig consumption have increased. Beef, and Sheep have declined.

  16. Without Fish the dominance of poultry is obvious.

  17. Poultry production is largely produced in the formal commercial sector. In other markets informal production is important.
