Work Productivity and Motivation: On-Site vs. Work from Home Set-Up
The comparison between on-site and work-from-home set-ups highlights how employees experience varying levels of productivity and motivation. While remote work offers convenience, some miss the on-site dynamics like competition and social interactions, affecting their motivation. Theoretical frameworks on productivity and motivation, along with studies on remote work implications, provide insight into enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction.

WORK PRODUCTIVITY AND MOTIVATION BETWEEN ON-SITE SET UP AND WORK FROM HOME SET UP John Patrick Murallon
INTRODUCTION It has been two years since COVID-19 hit us; many companies all over the world had to face the struggle during the pandemic crisis. Some companies had to shut down their operation because of COVID-19, and some companies came up with an idea for them to survive during the pandemic. Work-at-home setup is one of the solutions for the company to provide a job to their employees during a lockdown. I can say that some employees enjoyed the benefit of the work-at-home setup; you experience attending a zoom meeting while having your pajamas on, you don t need to think about the expense of transportation while reporting to your office, you can wake up late and watch your favourite series in Netflix as long as you time in during your work schedule and you spend more time with your family while earning or supporting your family.
INTRODUCTION During the work-at-home setup, I can say that there are some employees missing the on-site setup. They miss the adrenaline while they are on-site, the healthy competition between their colleagues, the small chit-chat with their set meet, and the free food during your monthly meeting. Some employees prepared the on-site set up and there are some employees that prepared the work-at-home setup. There a huge difference between work-at-home setup and on-site set up in terms of the productivity and motivation of the employees.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Krugman(1994) define productivity as a ratio between output volume and volume of inputs. An individual's productivity hinges on mental energy and a sense of internal and external motivation. It often emerges naturally from work that they find inherently meaningful or valuable. And while not everything one must do each day can hold deep personal meaning, researchers find that maintaining a focus on a larger long- term goal can help activate the drive and energy to push through more tedious day-to-day tasks. The most common theory regarding motivation is probably from American Psychologist, Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs theory. Which is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Ethan Bernstein, Hayley Blunden, Andrew Brodsky, Wonbin Sohn and Ben Waber(2020) began a study on The Implications of Working Without an Office They started surveying a diverse group of 680 U.S.-based white-collar employees during the second half of March and have continued to do so every two weeks since then. Approximately half their respondents are women, and half are men; they hail from 43 states; nearly half are married; and more than a third have children. About 40% hold management positions. They,ve been asking them about their job satisfaction, work engagement, perceptions of their own performance, conflicts with colleagues, stress, negative emotions and current living situation, among other questions. They validated their initial findings through interviews with senior leaders of other organizations.
