  1. WFMS Emergency Management Plan Updated 2024

  2. NON-NEGOTIABLES DURING ANY EMERGENCY EVENT: No direct contact with parents and/or media. No social media. Do not release students to ANYONE until authorized. Use cell phones for professional or emergency use only. Designate people for text messaging chains. Students should not be on cell phones at all. ASSESS & OBSERVE use you best judgement.

  4. Lockdown Procedures Teachers: If you observe a threat, call the front office at ext. 1800 so that the school can be put on Lockdown. If no answer call ext. 1801 then ext. 1803 or text admin. Once in Lockdown, all calls should go to the command center at ext. 1900. Refrain from calling or texting unless absolutely necessary. Lester, Vessel, Milton, Washington, Stirgus, Griffin, Walker report to the Command Center Office 106

  5. Lockdown Procedures Command Center is in Office 106 Ext 1900 1. Vessel will notify the SRO. (Milton is backup) 2. Lester will make a lockdown announcement. (Milton is backup) We are on lockdown. This is not a drill. Lock doors. Get away from doors and turn off lights. I repeat, this is not a drill. We are on lockdown. Lock doors. Get away from doors and turn off lights. This is not a drill. If you know the exact location, say it. Ex. We are on lockdown. This is not a drill. There is a threat on the 6thgrade hall.

  6. Lockdown Procedures Office Checklist 3. Office staff will move all necessary items and equipment to the Office 106 and lock the door. 4. Washington will make sure all office staff is accounted for and knows their responsibilities. 5. Mrs. Griffin will call 911. (Washington is backup) 6. Initiate Emergency Communications Procedures Vessel will call Mr. Milton, Mrs. Cochran, Mrs. Dudley, or Mr. Hammer. (Milton is the backup) Stirgus will call PE, Health, Choir, and Band to make sure they heard the announcement. (Griffin is the backup) Milton will use Remind App to communicate with all staff. Use Staff List to check off. (Washington is the backup)

(Vessel is the backup.) 8. Resource Officer will go directly to the threat 9. Other staff safety areas: Pruitt and Walock Lockdown in Records Room Custodians Lockdown in their closets Cafeteria Staff Lockdown in the dry goods storage Health and PE Lockdown in the locker rooms Choir and Band Lockdown in classrooms

Lockdown Procedures Lockdown Procedures Teacher Checklist Teacher Checklist After Receiving PA Announcement or Text MOVE students from halls to closest safe area within 30 seconds SURVEY surroundings quickly BRING anyone left in the hall inside the room INFORM administration of students in restrooms, missing or absent LOCK door, TURN OFF lights, CLOSE all window blinds & KEEP students away from windows/ doors and/or open areas REMAIN calm and KEEP students QUIET (NO CELL PHONES / NO TALKING) DO NOT open the door for anyone, authorities will have keys WAIT for ALL CLEAR ANNOUNCEMENT or ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT proceed into class exchange KEEP STUDENT ROSTER WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES

ACTIVE SHOOTER SITUATION After receiving PA announcement, text, OR if you are aware of this emergency situation prior to any announcement: RUN: Escape the area of shooter with your students, if at all possible. Vacate halls within 30 seconds of an ACTIVE SHOOTER emergency announcement STAY ABSOLUTE QUIET (NO CELL PHONES / NO TALKING) HIDE: If you cannot escape, turn off lights and MOVE everyone away from visibility of doors/windows Stay away from windows and open areas DO NOT open the door for anyone; authorities will have keys ABSOLUTE QUIET (NO CELL PHONES / NO TALKING) *Outside Shooter - seek immediate shelter inside the nearest building. *Inside Shooter - If inside a restroom or another room; turn off lights, lock door, and hide FIGHT: Defend Yourself! Take action against a shooter ONLY if your life is immediately threatened No person is to leave the area until authorized by POLICE and given the All CLEAR announcement.

Office staff will take the following items out of the building: Laptop (OnCourse Access) Emergency Bag Walkie-talkies Nurse needs to take first aid bag to the Command Center Command Center will assemble at the flagpole. Determine if this is a Drill or Live event If live event, initiate communications procedures Identify person to collect attendance (Admin Assignments) Determine if movement to a secondary site is needed

Assigned zones are labeled on classroom maps. Take your class rosters with you as you exit. Have any students on the hallway to follow you outside. Have students sit on the ground as a class. Away from any building. Check attendance and prepare to report attendance to admin. DO NOT enter the building until instructed to do so by an administrator. Prepare to move to a secondary site if necessary.

Bad Weather Situation Bad Weather Situation Teacher Checklist Teacher Checklist Upon announcement, move to your assigned interior zone quickly, quietly, and orderly CLOSE windows and doors as you are leaving classrooms Move all students into the interior hallways and away from all windows 7th grade classes will move to the administrative hallway 8th grade classes will move to the middle hallway between TOR and Office. Choir, Band, Health, and PE moves to the locker rooms. Anyone outside of the building needs to move inside of the main building immediately REMAIN calm and KEEP students QUIET (NO CELL PHONES / NO TALKING). WAIT for ALL CLEAR ANNOUNCEMENT or ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS KEEP STUDENT ROSTER WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES

  16. Bad Weather Situation Bad Weather Situation Office Checklist Office Checklist Make announcement for teachers to move into the halls and away from windows. (Text or All Call) Move all necessary items and equipment to the conference room. (Weather Radio, Walkie-talkies, Laptop, etc ) Notify Superintendent and Supervisor of Schools Immediately Principal and Resource Officer will communicate with OEP and local authorities for weather updates. Notify parents by Thrill Share App to let them know of drill or live situation.

Media Procedures Send all media personnel to the school command post Administrators will refer media personnel to the Superintendent s Office Pre Pre- -Approved Statement Approved Statement These has been an incident that has resulted in the implementation of our Crisis Response Plan. Appropriate authorities have been contacted and are assessing the situation. The superintendent will meet with you shortly to update you on the incident. There can be no other comment at this time.
