Attendance and work As a condition of Student Visa, all students must have a minimum of 80% attendance. 67% attendance at college and 33% Moodle online attendance You should only work on days when there is no class If you are sick, send your medical/doctor certificate to info@kic.edu.au Attendance falls below 80% - interview with the Academic Manager or Principal Warning Letters followed by Intention to report
Course Intervention Strategy Unsatisfactory course progress occurs when a student: Fails more than 50% of units in a study period Fails two units consecutively in a study period Student is at risk will be placed under an Intervention Strategy You will be required to attend tutorial remedial classes additional to your timetabled classes Action: Warning letters followed by Intention to report Remedial classes to attend
Results and Assessment Methods Study Period: duration of course can vary in weeks dependent on enrolled course Grades: C=Competent; NYC: Not yet competent Assessment methods : Assignments, test, quiz, presentations, group discussion, case studies, research, reports, etc. These can be completed in classrooms, workshops and online
Plagiarism and Cheating Plagiarism is a form of Cheating Taking and using someone else s thoughts, writings or inventions Saying they are your own work Plagiarism is a serious act You can be expelled from the course so don t cut and paste from google - use your own words KIC uses Turnitin on our Moodle system
AI determination AI - ChatGPT KIC uses Turnitin on our Moodle system Moodle system also shows use of AI technology as a % to your work 20% of work submitted can be AI or copied 80% of answers MUST in your own words AI is only to be used for design, research and gathering of information ALL Assessments issued with AI wording and not re paraphrased will be returned to student for a resubmit
Complaints and Appeals Procedure Procedures are in the Student Handbook You are responsible to follow the processes Procedures have a 10 day period for answering The external appeals procedure will be determined by the Overseas Student Ombudsman(for overseas student)

Working on Student Visa Except in limited circumstances, you and your family members cannot work until your course has started. When your course is in session: You can work 48 hours in a 2 week period after 1 July 2023 See condition 8105 Work restrictions

Deferral, Suspension or Cancellation Students wishing to defer the commencement of studies or suspend their studies or cancellation of enrolment must apply to do so in writing to the College using the Student Deferral, Suspension or Cancellation Application Form or in writing by email. The college may decide to suspend or cancel a student s enrolment on its own initiative as response to breaching the student code of behavior through misbehavior, a poor academic record or poor attendance by student.
Deferral, Suspension or Cancellation If the College is intending to initiate a suspension or cancellation of enrolment a warning letter will be sent to the student s currently notified address and the student will have 20 working days from the date of the waring letter to complain or appeal against the suspension or cancellation. Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Trainers and assessors conduct hazard and risk assessments prior to conducting training and assessment as per the Work Health and Safety Legislation 2011 to ensure that all the tools and equipment for training and assessment are in a safe working order. Students are informed of the location of the first aid kit and evacuation procedures relevant to the area where they are training or being assessed.
No Smoking policy The entire college is a smoke free zone. So the student must not smoke anywhere on the campus. Smokers MUST have a designated smoking areas outside the building to smoke as per the local government regulations. Fire evacuation The college has a fire evacuation plan and fire and floor wardens. Signs show emergency fire exits and fire wardens. First aid kit A first aid kit is located at reception.
Policies & Procedures Student Leave of Absence: If a student is unable to attend classes for an extended period of time (longer than one week), they must complete a Student Leave of Absence Form with supporting documentation pertaining to the reason for your absence. The college will assess your application and provide you with written advice regarding its outcome within two (2) weeks of the form being received by the college. Leave of Absence generally relates to compelling or compassionate reasons or for reasons outside the control of the student. In all cases documented evidence will be required and the college may request audience with the student.
Student Portal The student portal is accessible through KIC s mobile application or via the link: The portal allows student to view their class timetable, results and any payments that may be due/outstanding. Yes, you will be trained by one of our staff to use the Moodle system
Student feedback The college places emphasis on the views and opinions of its student cohort. Every end of unit, the college will request students to complete a quality survey of its operations, teaching, learning and overall quality level. Feedback from these surveys, which are confidential, will be used to enhance the college service. The results of all surveys are viewed by college management, so your views are seriously taken with the utmost of respect.
