MONDAY
WEIGHT

Weight

Weight is a little bit different to other measurements.
For example when we learned about length we learned there are 100
centimetres (cm) in 1 metre (m) and when we learned about money we
learned there is 100 cent (c) in 1 euro (€).
We measure weight in kilograms (kg) and grams (g) BUT
there are
1000
grams
 (1000g) in 1 kilogram (1kg).

How do we measure
grams and
kilograms?

Usually people
measure weight using
a weighing scale. You
might have seen or
used a weighing scale
recently if you were
baking.

Things that weigh around 1 gram (1g)
If you can find any of these around you house, pick them up and feel how
heavy they are
a raison
a thumbtack
the top of a pen
a paperclip

Things that weigh around 1 kilogram
(1 kg)
If you have any of these at home pick them up to see how heavy they are
1 litre of water
1 bag of sugar
1 bag of rice

Complete the Monday worksheet if you
can and if you’d like to, send me a photo
on seesaw or by email
