Wednesday, 18 September 2024 Kindness ACHIEVING SELF-MOTIVATED POSITIVE IMANGINATIVE RESPECTFUL EMPATHETIC ACHIEVING SELF-MOTIVATED POSITIVE IMANGINATIVE RESPECTFUL EMPATHETIC One of the things you will hear staff say in school on different occasions is it doesn t take much to be kind , this is especially true given the time we all find ourselves in. We are all in the same storm but in a different boat. What do you think that means? Our experiences of Covid-19 and national lockdowns may be different to our friends and even our family or a person we pass on the street. We don t know how other people are feeling or what they have experienced that day. But YOU could make a difference to someone s day, YOU could change the way someone is feeling, YOU could be the positive thing they experience that day how wonderful is that! The positive effects of kindness are experienced in the brain of everyone who witnessed the act, improving their mood and making them significantly more likely to pay it forward. This means one good deed in a crowded area can create a domino effect and improve the day of dozens of people! Jamil Zaki, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Stanford University for Scientific American, July 26, 2016
