Hebrews 3:12-13 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin (NKJV).
The Lord has promised, I will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5b). But, the same writer warns that we can be guilty of departing from the living God (Heb. 3:12).
At birth we ore with God (Matt. 18:3). Being away from Him is a result of going astray (Isa. 53:6). We are brought back by turning to God through the gospel (Acts 26:20). This warns those who have turned to God not to depart from Him (Heb. 3:1).
Departing from God The Danger of Departing 1.People will be gathered out of the kingdom (Matt. 13:41-42). 2.People can forget God and be lost (Jer. 2:32; Psa. 9:17). 3.Better never to know truth than turn from it (2 Pet. 2:20-21).
Departing from God The Danger of Departing 4. Some will depart from the faith (1 Tim. 4:1). 5. Christians can fall from grace (Gal. 5:4).

Departing from God Reasons People Depart 4. Persecution and hardship (Matt. 13:20-21; 24:12-13). 5. Fear of man (Matt. 10:28; John 12:42-43). 6. The Deceitfulness of Sin (Heb. 3:13; Rom. 7:11; Isa. 5:20; ).
Departing from God Consequences of Departing 1. Israel was kept out of Canaan (Heb. 3:10-11). 2. We can be kept out of heaven (Heb. 4:1, 11).
Departing from God It is easy to drift away from God. It is easy to allow life to lead us to forget God. He won t leave us, but we must not depart from Him. We must stay close to God s word and His people to avoid this.
