VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION TEXT: Luke 4:1-12;Jer.35:1-10.
MEMORY VERSE And Jesus answering said unto him, it is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God , Luke 4:12
WHAT IS TEMPTATION? Temptation is a suggestion to commit Sin Jesus was tempted by Satan, but he overcame by the word of God The word of God gives us assurance that we can have victory in times of temptation.
Areas where one can be tempted The love of money. Example: Judas Iscariot Pleasing to the eyes. Example: Eve and the fruit, Achan and the Babylonian garment Appetite and hunger. Example: Jesus after he fasted for 40 days. Others who were also tempted in the bible; Rechabite children

Satan is the source of temptations. He also uses other agents like demons and sinners to tempt friends of Jesus. Temptation is the suggestion or enticement from the devil to a child to disobey the word of God Temptation is not sin but yielding to temptation is sin. Jesus was tempted of the devil three times, and yet, He overcame all It shows that we also can overcome temptations whenever you are tempted POINT 1: SOURCES OF TEMPTATION Luke 4:3,6,9,10 James 1:13
IN WHAT WAYS AS FRIENDS OF JESUS CAN YOU BE TEMPTED? To stop loving Jesus and His people To take what does not belong to you. To abuse friends when they provoke you To copy the children of the world in the way they do their things like birthday parties, dressing, examinations and many other bad ways cheating in
POINT 2: STRENGTH DURING TEMPTATION: Luke 4:4,8,12; Jeremiah 35:6-10 Obedience to the word of God is the source of our strength during temptation. Study and think on God s words. Memorize some passages of the Bible. Obey the word of God and stand on it. Avoid anything that would be a source of temptation to you Ask God for guidance and pray always.
POINT 2: STRENGTH DURING TEMPTATION CONTD. Jesus was victorious over temptation Jesus depended on the strength in the written word of God to overcome temptations. Many times, He said, "It is written". The children of Jonadab said, Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab (Jeremiah 35:8). They refused to yield to temptation and they overcame
POINT 3: ENCOURAGEMENT TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION: 1 Corinthians 10:13 Temptation is common to all friends of Jesus Jesus Himself was tempted, therefore, all those who follow Him will also be tempted God has promised all those who are tempted that there will be a way out. God will not leave you alone in times of temptation.
REWARD FOR THOSE WHO OVERCOME TEMPTATION There are rewards for those who overcome temptations They will things, Revelation 21:7 They will have the crown of life, Revelation 2:10 They will get to heaven inherit all

LESSON: Children of God can overcome temptation by obeying the word of God at all times. THOUGHT: I will stand on the word of God so as to overcome temptation. ACTIVITY: Children are to search the following Bible passages and mention the people that yielded to temptation and those that were victorious. (i) Genesis 3:1-6, (ii) Genesis 22:1-3,15-18,(iii) Genesis 39:7-9,(iv) I Kings 13:9,14-19
