Introduction
 
What is Teachers’ Pay & Pension Grant
 
The Teachers’ pay grant (TPG) provides funding for schools to support
teachers’ pay awards that came into effect in 2018-2019.
 
The Teachers’ Pension Grant supports schools & local authorities with the
cost of the increase in employer contributions to the teachers’ pension
scheme that came into effect in 2019.
 
Both Grants normally come in 2 instalments :-
 
5/12th allocation in May-June which covers April-August
Allocation
7/12th allocation in Oct-Nov which covers September- March

So What is new?
 
From 2021 to 2022, funding for the teachers’ pay
& pension grant will be paid through the schools
and high needs National Funding Formulae
(NFF), 
instead of as separate grants
.
 
The DFE have ensured that the additional
funding schools will attract through the NFF is as
close as possible to the funding they would have
received if the funding was continuing as
separate grants
.
 
 
These annualised rates are applied to primary and secondary pupils, from
reception to year 11

How much will you get
extra in NFF 2021-2022?
 
Schools across England are set for a giant cash boost as the Prime Minister
announces he will invest over £14 billion in primary and secondary
education between 2020/21 and 2022/23.
 
As part of this, every primary school will receive a minimum of £4,000 per
pupil and every secondary school will receive a minimum of £4950 for KS3
& £5,450 per pupil for KS4 in 2021/22.
 
A further 
£180 per pupil 
has then been added to the primary amount and
£265 per pupil 
has been added to each of the KS3 and KS4 amounts,
representing the teachers’ pay and pension grants.
So Minimum per pupil funding levels Year groups
2021-22 will be 
:-
Primary    £4,180
KS3

KS4 
 
    £5,715
Note - 
Provisional NFF allocations for 2020/21 at local authority level and at
school level will be announced in October 2020
