  3. What is the Holy Communion? Receiving Holy Communion is very important for Orthodox Christians. The Holy Communion is made up of wine, water and bread. During the Divine Liturgy, the priest asks god to make the wine, water and bread holy. This then becomes the body and blood of Jesus which is called the Holy Communion.
