  2. Key scriptures Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Fire in Scripture Judgment Answer to prayer Glory and presence Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 19) Deliverance of Israelites in Egypt (Exo 9:24) Those that rebelled against authority (Num 11, 16) God devours His enemies (Ps 11:6, 18:8- 13, Isa 26:11, 29:6, 65:5- 7) Wicked, the devil, the beast and false prophet thrown into lake of fire (Matt 13:40, Rev 20:10) God appeared to Moses in a burning bush (Exo 3:2) The Lord guided the Israelites through the wilderness with a pillar of fire (Exo 14:24, 40:38, Num 9:15-16) Mount Sinai was continually wrapped in smoke (Exo 19:18, 24:17) God spoke to Moses face to face in the midst of fire (Deut 5:4) Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal. God answered by fire (1 Kings 18) God answers David with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering (1 Chron 21:26) When Solomon finished praying to dedicate the temple, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices (2 Chron 7:1-3) Evangel Christian Fellowship

  5. Altar of Sacrifice Fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out Lev 6:13 God gave instructions on how to offer sacrifices offering by fire (Exo 29:18, 25, 41; Lev 1-7) Fire burned the offering and it became a sweet aroma unto the Lord (Lev 1-7) Evangel Christian Fellowship

  6. Five Levitical Offerings (Lev 1-7) Offering Description To atone for sins. Conducted twice per day (morning and evening Num 28:3-4). All had to be burned. Burnt (Lev 1) Offering of thanksgiving. Always offered with frankincense (prayer and intercession) Grain (Lev 2) Freewill offering. A meal shared with the Lord and the priests Peace (Lev 3) Deals with unintentional sins and ceremonial uncleanness. Different instructions based on which group (e.g. high priest, leader, common Israelite) Sin (Lev 4) Trespass (Lev 5) To atone for sins such as lying to neighbours, extortion, fraud. Testing and Purification Our faith will be tested by fire (Dan 3, 1 Pet 1:7) So that the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in [your] praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Our works (including motives) will be tested by fire (1 Cor 3:9-15) Because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality and character and worth of each person s work. Our fruitfulness - unfruitful trees (Matt 3:10-12, 7:19, 13:40-42, John 15:6) Evangel Christian Fellowship
