Point of View & Perspective WHAT MAKES PEOPLE VIEW THE SAME EXPERIENCE IN DIFFERENT WAYS?

Dont get these 3 confused: Purpose, Point of View, and Perspective Author s purpose: Why is the author sharing the story/information? -To persuade, to inform, to entertain, to describe Narrator s Point of View: Who is telling the details? -Who is telling the story? -First Person POV, Second Person POV, Third Person POV
Perspective: How a character/author feels about something or feels about a situation. A character s perspective is his or her unique way of seeing things. -What does this character think? -What does he/she believe? -What is his/her attitude about the subject? -What is his/her feelings or opinion on the situation?
Example from Touching Spirit Bear Cole and his father -Highlight Cole s thoughts and words with a highlighter -Underline his father s words & actions with a pencil -Circle words in the dialogue that give you insight about how Cole and his father feel
