The environment, derived from the French word "environ" meaning surrounds, encompasses both biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) components. Biotic components include plants, animals, and microbes, while abiotic components consist of water, air, temperature, light, and soil. Plants are producers, animals are consumers, and microorganisms are decomposers. Understanding the interaction between these components is crucial for environmental balance and sustainability.

  1. OUR ENVIRONMENT- CLASS 6 ENVIRONMENT IS MADE FROM FRENCH WORD ENVIRON WHICH MEANS SURROUNDS. ENVIRONMENT IS OUR SURROUNDING. IT HAS TWO COMPONENTS- ENVIRONMENT BIOTIC COMPONENT ABIOTIC COMPONENT PLANTS, ANIMALS, MICROBES WATER,AIR, TEMPERATURE, LIGHT, SOIL

  2. BIOTIC COMPONENTS PLANTS ARE PRODUCERS OR AUTOTROPHS AS THEY PREPARE FOOD BY PHOTOSYNTHESIS. THEY HAVE CHLOROPHYLL WHICH TRAP SUNLIGHT AND USE CARBONDIOXIDE AND WATER TO MAKE FOOD. ANIMALS ARE PRODUCER OR HETEROTROPHS AS THEY DEPEND ON OTHERS FOR FOOD.THEY ARE CLASSIFIED AS ---- HERBIVORES CARNIVORES AND OMNIVORES MICRO ORGANISMS ARE CALLED DECOMPOSERS AS THEY GET FOOD FROM DEAD AND DECAYING MATTER, THEY HELP IN MINERAL CYCLE.

  3. BIODEGRADABLE AND NONBIODEGRADABLE BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS ARE MATERIALS WHICH CAN BE DECOMPOSED BY MICRO ORGANISMS. EXAMPLE PAPER ,CLOTH ETC. NONBI0DEGRADABLE MATERIALS ARE MATERIALS WHICH CANT BE DECOMPOSED BY MIRO ORGANISMS . EXAMPLE PLASTIC, GLASS ETC. BIODEGRADABLE AND NONBIODEGRADABLE WASTES SHOULD BE SEGREGATED FOR PROPER DISPOSAL . SOME BIODEGRADABLE WASTES CAN BE CONVERTED INTO COMPOST LIKE KITCHEN WASTES. WORMS ARE USED TO HASTEN THE PROCESS OF COMPOSTING. IT IS CALLED VERMICOMPOSTIMG

  4. ABIOTIC COMPONENTS WATER IS NECESSARY FOR ALL LIVING THINGS. IT IS USED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES. RAIN WATER HARVESTING IS A WAY TO COLLECT RAIN WATER FOR REUSE IN FUTURE.

  5. AIR AND LIGHT AIR IS MIXTURE OF GASES.MAIN GASES PRESENT IN AIR ARE OXYGEN, NITROGEN, CARBONDIOXIDE. LIVING THINGS USE OXYGEN FOR RESPIRATION. PLANTS USE CARBON DIOXIDE FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS. SUN IS THE MAIN SOURCE OF LIGHT. PLANTS AND ANIMALS RESPOND TO LIGHT IN DIFFERENT WAYS. MORNING GLORY BLOOMS WITH SUNRISE , SUNFLOWER ALWAYS FACES THE SUN.

  6. TEMPERATURE AND SOIL TEMPERATURE IS MEASURE OF HOTNESS AND COLDNESS. TEMPERATURE AFFECTS ACTIVITIES OF LIVING ORGANISMS.BUFFALOES CANNOT TOLEREATE HIGH TEMPERATURE AS THEY ARE BLACK IN COLOUR AND DON T HAVE EFFICIENT SWEAT GLANDS. CAMEL CAN TOLERATE HIGH TEMPERATURE. THEY CAN LIVE WITHOUT WATER FOR MANY DAYS. POLAR BEAR AND PENGUINS ARE FOUND IN COLD REGION. SOIL IS ALSO IMPORTANT ABIOTIC FACTOR REQUIRED FOR GROWTH OF PLANTS.

  7. INTERACTION IN ENVIRONMENT PLANTS AND ANIMALS ARE INERDEPENDENT IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP. FOOD CHAIN IS A SERIES OF ORGANISMS INTER-REALTED SEQUENCLY , VIA THEIR FOOD. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA-NC

  8. MINERAL CYCLE THE CYCLING OF MATERIAL THROUGH BIOTIC AND ABIOTIC COMPONENTS IS CALLED MINERAL CYCLE.

  9. BALANCE BETWEEN OXYGEN ANDS CARBON DIOXIDE
