  1. Germs and Bugs By: Sarah Boiarski RN, BSN

  2. What is a GERM? A microscopic organism that causes disease We cannot see them Usually Bacteria or Viruses

  3. How do GERMS live? Germs are spread through our coughs and sneezes Germs can invade our bodies and try to take over!

  4. What do GERMS do to me? Germs can make us sick When Bacteria or Viruses enter our system-our bodies have to fight them. Our bodies then get a fever while they are fighting You feel tired and grumpy Some germs cause a sore throat, some make your tummy hurt

  5. How can we stop it? Cover your cough or sneeze! Wash your hands! Stay home from school when you are sick with a fever Keep your hands to yourself- Stay in your BUBBLE

  6. When do we wash our hands? When we have coughed or sneezed on them When we touch something dirty (in the bathroom, table, lunch room) After we use the restroom Before we eat

  7. How do we wash our hands? Use soap and water Wash for 20 seconds (sing the ABC song-at a normal speed!) Rinse with warm water and dry with paper towel

  8. Lice Lice are tiny bugs that live on human heads Lice feed on human blood (like a mosquito) Lice can live off your body for 1- 2 days Lice do not spread disease

  9. How are LICE spread? Lice are spread by sharing brushes, combs, hats, scarves or coats Lice can be spread by sharing pillows or blankets Lice do not jump Lice do crawl
