  9. Lets continue reading Stave Three Re-cap Scrooge is on a journey with the second ghost: The Ghost of Christmas Present. The Ghost has recently shown him The Cratchit family (Bob s family) and then took him to see some miners, two men in a lighthouse and then men on a ship. He is suddenly taken to a warm and happy place: Fred s house.

  10. What impressions do you get of Fred here? Why am I bothering my uncle so much? The consequences of his taking a dislike to us, and not making merry with us, is, as I think, that he loses some pleasant moments, which could do him no harm. I am sure he loses pleasanter companions than he can find in his own thoughts, either in his mouldy old officer or his dusty chambers. I mean to give him the same chance every year, whether he likes it or not, for I pity him. He may rail at Christmas till he dies, but I can t help thinking better of it- I defy him, if he finds me going there in good temper, year after year and saying Uncle Scrooge, how are you? If it only puts him in vein to leave his poor clerk fifty pounds that s something ; and I think I shook him yesterday.

  11. Key Moments at Freds Party He is in a bright, dry, gleaming room. Dickens is using light to show how happy and positive Fred is. Fred is laughing at how Scrooge called Christmas a humbug Fred s wife comments on how rich Scrooge must be, but Fred says that it s of no use to him . Fred shows the reader how patient he is with Scrooge because he says that he means to give him the same chance every year After music and a game of blind-man s buff, they play a game of yes or no where they have to guess who someone else is pretending to be. They guess that Fred is pretending to be an animal that growled and grunted sometimes then guess correctly that he was pretending to be Scrooge.
