Tense is the time described by a verb. It tells when the action occurred. There are three main tenses in English A) Present Tense B) Past Tense C) Future Tense
Uses of the Present Tense: 1) To express a habitual action e.g. He goes to college. 2) He takes milk every morning. 3) My father gets up every day at five o clock.
2) To express Universal Truths e.g. a) Honey is sweet. b) Water is pure.
3)In vivid narrative, as substitute for the Simple Past Tense e.g. a) He goes to meet his brother. He is helped by his brother.
4) For a future event that is planned or arranged . E.g. Shyam visits Mumbai next week. 5) It is used to introduce quotations: Keats says, A thing of beauty is a joy forever .
