Line managers/ sponsors will need to attend a 2 hr information sessions Learning hours Emerging Leaders 60 Seats (2 Cohorts) Seats A deeper understanding of skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to develop successfully as a leader Enhanced personal influencing and confident negotiation skills Greater self-awareness around building a personal profile to gain greater recognition and visibility Participating in an ongoing supportive network of peers who share a common goal to develop their careers Techniques and approaches to develop and enhance team and stakeholder relationships Learning outcomes Provides leadership development for high potential colleagues from black, Asian and marginalised ethnic communities who may not yet be leaders of people. It supports a deeper understanding of leadership skills and knowledge, with a particular focus on being a leader from a BAME background and dealing with personal and structural barriers. Learning hours 60 Seats (2 Cohorts) Seats Senior Women in Leadership Development of personal strategies to progress careers, fulfil potential and circumvent barriers Challenge and re-frame gendered notions of leadership to bring your authentic self into your leadership identify Integrate wellbeing and resilience into the core of your leadership approach Build self-awareness, self management, relationship management and social awareness Enhance team leadership, using coaching and mentoring skills to become a stronger leader of leaders Refine negotiation and influencing skills, become more adept at managing complex and competing stakeholder relationships and make stronger cases for change Establish shared experiences, networks and strategic connections in a supportive environment Learning outcomes Provides senior female identifying staff, (including trans women and non-binary people comfortable in a female-centred community) with the opportunity to reflect on their leadership profile and plan how to grow their skills and develop their impact as senior leaders in UCL. 16 hours Learning hours Advancing Principal Investigator Programme (previously Research Team Leaders) 64 Seats (4 Cohorts) Seats Understand the importance and role of a research team leader Build and lead a more impactful research team in changing times Understand how to engage in team building and collaborative working Explore ways to address and resolve challenges arising from leading teams in changing times Develop a strategy for creating a personal vision for your research career Lead more effective team meetings Learning outcomes Equips early-stage Principal Investigators with the skills and tools to lead a research team whilst developing a research career. A key feature of this leadership programme is its focus on developing the ability to lead in challenging times and periods of change in the research landscape. Existing research team leaders or experienced researchers with potential to lead a research team (e.g. FLF fellows) at grades 8 to 9 Eligibility The programme offers participants a unique opportunity to have a hands-on experience of leading a team of researchers through group exercises. 16 hours Learning hours Experienced Principal Investigators Programme 40 Seats (2 Cohorts) Seats Understand your identity and challenges as a research leader, Explore the nature of academic research leadership models including devolved and distributed leadership, Understand and apply your emotional intelligence skills, Develop the competencies of inclusive leadership to leverage the value of diverse teams, Develop strategies for your political astuteness capability and strategic alignment with organisational goals, Improve facilitation skills to increase the effectiveness of research teams, Explore strategic leadership in a changed and changing HE. Learning outcomes Helps senior researchers reflect on their leadership skills and amplify their strategic planning in their contexts and situations, and on creating conditions to enable them to become an effective research leader. Essential part of the programme is a series of five concise (20-min) coaching sessions.
