But, sometimes, they swing towards each other and briefly come together, like acrobats on the trapeze. In fact, a good example is the word trapeze. This comes from the word trapezium a four-sided, 2D shape with one pair of parallel lines. The circus act got its name from the outline made by the ropes, bar and roof. It was given that title by Jules Leotard, who we can also thank for that item of clothing. And the funny thing is that the word trapezium first came from the Latin for a bench not very daring at all! 1. Who gave the trapeze its name? 2. What item of clothing is the text referring to? 3.
