Smarter Working and Colindale HQ The Smarter Working group aims to ensure London Borough of Barnet (LBB) council offices are an attractive place to work, the right size and offer flexible working practices Staff will be able to access the information they need - via efficient information systems and devices The programme will encourage effective partnership working, facilitated by systems and environments, and allow staff to dedicate more time to frontline services Colindale HQ project will deliver the vision of the Smarter Working group A new office building will be completed by 2017 which will vastly improve the Council s working environment leading to greater productivity

  4. Unified Reward In the context of Colindale HQ and Smarter Working, Barnet is changing how we deliver services, changing where we work, and we are changing how we work. Through the Unified Reward project, the Council aims to make sure that the offer is right, both in terms of pay and conditions, and in terms of the benefits that are offered to staff as part of the aim to become an employer of choice for local government professionals Unified Reward is part of positioning LBB to be able to deliver this bigger change and is about more than streamlining our pay, terms and conditions. Ultimately, the objective of Unified Reward is to ensure that LBB are able to provide a fair deal to staff in the years ahead, to ensure that staff are appropriately rewarded and also to allow us to attract and retain excellent staff in what is an increasingly competitive labour market. This will include the introduction of a system where performance is rewarded. Through Unified Reward, staff will be better supported to deliver for residents, in return for high performance and commitment.

  5. Customer Access, Community Participation & ICT Strategies Customer Access Strategy This strategy will deliver the vision for customer services through ensuring LBB becomes digital by default The vision for customer services in 2020 is fast efficient resolution at earliest point and a high quality personalised service Ensure customers are connected to the community, not just council services Community Participation Strategy Outcomes of the strategy are to enable residents and community groups to be more independent and resilient; and able to take on more responsibility for their local areas. The project will improve information available to local communities, strengthen place based commissioning at neighbourhood level and strengthen the relationship between the voluntary community sector and the council ICT strategy The strategy aims to embed a mobile and flexible ICT infrastructure that is integrated, secure and reliable and encourages partnership working and sharing
