TPC Mechanical Support Considerations for ILD Integration Task Force Meeting
During the ILD Integration Task Force meeting, discussions revolved around the deformation of the TPC under weight and pressure, fixation points for hanging the TPC, considerations for supporting the TPC with the Cryostat or HCAL, and dealing with potential service clashes. Challenges and preferences regarding TPC placement and support were analyzed in detail.

ILD Integration Task Force meeting Feb. 2, 2018 TPC Mechanical support P. Colas, V. Prahl, H. Videau
General considerations Latest study back in 2012. Restart in 2017. No manpower for calculations However a few questions can be asked Deformation of the TPC (cage+web) under its weight and inner pressure (calculations by Micka l Carty in 2009) Where to hang the TPC? Coil Cryostat or HCAL?
Rails on the Ecal ruled out: - Weight deforms the TPC - Probably the Ecal cannot bear the load BASELINE D formation V1 - P = 0 mbar The TPC must be hung somewhere The small model seems to be more deformable than the baseline (for equal web thickness) SMALL D formation V2 - P = 0 mbar
FIXATION POINTS Main dimensions of the TPC (outside) Od = 3616, r=1808 Id = 658, r=329 Length = 4700 incl. endplate and cabling 3 Point 3x120 , preferred gaps: 1,12, 6 4 Point 4x90 , preferred gaps: 3, 15, 11, 7 In this drawing, only the cryostat is foreseen to support the TPC
Fixation to HCAL : shorter than for cryostat. This implies smaller amplitude oscillations. - HCAL preferred place to hang the TPC. HCAL cables Gaps for the ECAL In any case one has to deal with services clashing with supports
